While the finishing touches were going on in the interior of the house, we continued working on the exterior with the completion of the composite deck, power washing the roof, painting, and restabilizing the footings.
Just outside of the double glass doors serving as the front entry, we have a 12×14 deck. From there, we have a view of the ocean and a gentle breeze on nice days. It’ll be a relaxing spot to entertain some family and friends. We chose composite material from Trex for its durability, especially because the deck is uncovered.
For a consistent look throughout, we also used the composite decking for the stairs and the landing.
Our painters came to power wash the roof, helping it look like a brand new roof.
They came back over the next few days to prepare the exterior of the house for a new paint job and trim. While they are still working on the trim and touching up various spots, the new body color looks great! Here are some of the different views of the house from the front, back and side.
Finally, we restabilized the footings in the carport to ensure that they were solidly on the concrete bases, and even changed out one footing for more stability. You can see the old footing in the foreground.
If the weather remains sunny, the trim and exterior painting should be completed this week. The owners chose a Navajo White body with Teal trim so that the windows stand out.
New white gutters will be installed after the painters are done with their part in the next week or so because the old ones were past their prime and filled with gunk.
We have some yard work to do, but once we’re done, the house should be looking very pretty.
